Rasheed Gbenga JIMOH, a Professor in the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences, University of Ilorin is a Fellow Institute for Classical Entrepreneurship, a Registered Professional Information Technology Practitioner with Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN) and a Fellow of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS). Professor Jimoh received his B.Sc. Degree in Computer Science from University of Ilorin with Second Class (Upper Division). He had his M.Sc. Degree in Computer Science from the Premier University of Ibadan in 2006 and finally his Ph.D. in Information Technology from University Utara Malaysia in 2010. He became a Professor in the Department of Computer Science, University of Ilorin in 2018 as the first Professor of Computer Science ever produced by the institution, eight years after he bagged his Ph.D. Degree. Professor Jimoh worked briefly with Data processing Maintenance and Services (DPMS), an IBM Business partner before he joined the services of the University of Ilorin in January 2004. He rose through the ranks to become a FULL Professor of Computer Science in 2018. He was appointed Deputy Director, Ilorin Business School, University of Ilorin between 2012 and 2015, Acting Head of Department of Computer Science between 2013 and 2015, Acting Dean, Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences between 2017 and 2019 and finally elected full Dean of same faculty between 2019 and 2021. He was appointed Director, Computer Services and Information Technology (COMSIT) Directorate, the ICT unit of University of Ilorin in August 2023, as the Director of the University of Ilorin ICT Unit, significant milestones achieved showcased strong leadership, strategic vision, and technical expertise in driving digital transformation within a public university. Key achievements include:

  1. Strategic Restructuring for Operational Efficiency
  2. Successfully reorganized the ICT Unit into twelve specialized sub-units, each with a well-defined operational framework to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
  3. Seamless Data Migration to Modern Infrastructure
  4. Led the migration of millions of records from the ICTP hosting platform to Amazon Web Services (AWS), improving reliability, scalability, and security.
  5. Facilitated the integration of these records into a newly deployed, scalable Integrated Enterprise Portal System for seamless data management.
  6. End-to-End Automation of Core University Processes
  7. Achieved over 70% automation of critical university operations, significantly enhancing efficiency and reducing administrative bottlenecks.
  8. Successfully deployed an automated transcript ordering and generation system, drastically improving turnaround time and service quality.
  9. Capacity Building for Sustainable ICT Innovation
  10. Implemented a robust training and capacity-building program, equipping staff with essential ICT skills to sustain ongoing digital transformation efforts.
  11.  Full-Scale Digital Transformation of the University Ecosystem
  12. Spearheaded the transition towards a fully digital university environment, leveraging cutting-edge technology to enhance academic and administrative operations.

These accomplishments reflect a commitment to innovation, efficiency, and sustainable ICT growth within the university.

He was recently appointed the Pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the newly licensed Muhammad Kamalud-deen University, Ogidi, Ilorin. Professor Jimoh has served in various capacities both within and outside the University. He has served a member of the governing council, Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria and a National Executive member of the Nigeria Computer Society.

As an active researcher, Professor Jimoh has received several grants and scholarships. Within the last few years, Professor Jimoh has successfully trained 18 Ph.D. and 52 M.Sc. candidates in Computer Science respectively. A widely travelled Professor has several Thesis to his credits as well as over 120 published articles in journals, chapters in books and referred conference proceedings (SCOPUS h-index = 15; Google Scholar h-index= 22). Professor Jimoh has received numerous awards for the development of Information Technology and Computer Science Education in Nigeria. Professor Jimoh loves reading, internet surfing and travelling. He is married to Dr. Mrs. Taibat Bolanle Jimoh, a union blessed with kids.
